Social media is rife with disheartening content that poses a serious threat to our safety, comfort, and even the stability of our nation; therefore, I feel compelled to issue a reminder:
1. For taxpayers with a relevant income, NOT PAYING TAXES is AGAINST THE LAW—not just in Indonesia, but in any country with a tax system. SO, DO NOT HEED THAT MISGUIDED CALL!
2. OVERTHROWING A LEGITIMATE GOVERNMENT is an unlawful act; this applies to any country. Besides, do you really think that by toppling the current government, you will get a replacement that is ideal, good, honest, intelligent, and truly loves the people? DON’T KID YOURSELF. If the system remains the same, only the players change, the game stays the same. It is like “escaping the crocodile’s jaws only to walk into the tiger’s mouth.” SO, DO NOT HEED THAT MALICIOUS CALL!
3. SELLING ALL ASSETS AND FLEEING ABROAD without thorough preparation is a foolish act that will bring misery upon you and your family. SO, DO NOT HEED THAT FOOLISH CALL!
If you are angry or disagree with Johanes Lim’s opinion, that is your right. However, I also have the right to remind you that whatever you do, DO NOT HARM OUR MOTHERLAND. It is the people who are at fault, not the homeland itself, so do not destroy it!
Also, regarding whatever you do with your assets: “THINK BEFORE YOU ACT.” Do you think living abroad without strategic planning, global skills, and a steady non-Rupiah income is a walk in the park? Think again! You will face far more stress than you would living in your own homeland!
